3 Montgomerians found dead in car along Georgia roadside | News

Authorities with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are searching for clues that will lead them to the person/s responsible for the deaths of three Montgomery, Alabama residents who were left inside a car near Atlanta.

The bodies were discovered in a silver vehicle Sunday morning by a Union City, GA. police officer who was on routine patrol. The officer noticed the automobile parked along an Interstate 85 on-ramp at Flat Shoals Road. That's about 20 miles from Atlanta.

When the officer went to investigate, he found two bodies inside the car. A third body was discovered when the trunk was opened. The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the victims as Cheryl Colquitt-Thompson, 32; Quinones King, 33; and Rodney Cottrell, 43. Their cause of death was not immediately released. Family members tell WSFA 12 News the vehicle belonged to Colquitt-Thompson.

Relatives tell WSFA 12 News they are stunned by the loss of their loved ones.  King and Colquitt-Thompson were uncle and niece, Cottrell was a friend.

"I'm going to think about her. Her smile, because that's all she do, smile," said Charlie Mae Colquitt, Cheryl Colquitt-Thompson's grandmother. Quinones, he always holler momma, what's going on."

Investigators haven't released any other details except to say they are moving forward with the case as a triple homicide.
