Esquire Magazine shows love to Montgomery Biscuits | News
The Montgomery Biscuits are getting some much deserved love from Esquire Magazine, but not for their fierce playing style. It's all about gentleness, and what's sitting on your head.
The magazine is crediting the Biscuits for having one of the most stylish baseball hats of all time. While the hat's color scheme is "fine and all" according to Jeff Sullivan, MLB Editor for SBNation.com, Monte the Biscuit makes it the real winner.
"A logo can be anything, but if you're going to anthropomorphize it," Sullivan wrote, "it should probably be menacing, because the whole idea is that you're looking to intimidate and defeat the other team."
Anyone who's seen Monte, the adorable and googly-eyed biscuit with his butter-pad tongue peeking out from behind the Montgomery "M", knows he's not going to put fear into any opposing team. Maybe hunger pangs, but not fear.
And that's the reason Sullivan says the hat works perfectly, "perhaps because it would be next to impossible to draw up a menacing biscuit."
The Biscuits hat made it onto Esquire's radar after the magazine asked sportwriters, and others for their picks.
